This document gives you an explanation of the conditions of the lenses that we are selling, and how we assign the grade for each lens.
We purchase old cameras that are over 50 years old from various markets. The conditions of each camera vary greatly due to their age. Therefore, we dismantle each lens part, discard any parts that may affect image quality, and clean the optics and most parts. We then assemble the parts to create functional lenses and modify them so that they can be mounted on modern cameras. On average, we can make one modified lens from two cameras.
We do not sell any lenses that may produce poor-quality images. Although they may have minor marks on the barrels or optics due to their age or some dust, we inspect and test all modified lenses for picture quality and overall functionality. As a result, the modified lenses we sell offer excellent and sharp image quality. We grade each lens and sell them accordingly, so you can choose the lens grade that suits your preferences.
The grades we have are as follows:
- LN: “LIKE NEW” means the lens is in 99 to 100 percent of its original condition.
- EX+: “EXCELLENT PLUS” rates at 90 to 96 percent of the original lens condition. The lens is exceptionally nice but may show slight wear on the finish, which is only visible upon close inspection. The glass will be very clean.
- EX: “EXCELLENT CONDITION” indicates 80 to 89 percent of the original lens condition. The lens shows moderate wear for its age, with possible small dings or blemishes. The glass may have slight blemishes, but they will not affect the picture quality.
- BGN: “BARGAIN” lenses are priced to sell and rated at 70 to 79 percent of the original lens condition. They may show more than average wear for their age and may have dents, dings, or finish loss. The glass may have marks, slight fungus, or blemishes, but they should not affect picture quality.
